Meher Baba travelled on this ferry on the 4th & 6th November 1936, while he was travelling between Paris & London.

 

 

This ferry came into service in April 1931.

 

 

 

1931

 

Meher Baba first travelled on this route when he visited the West for the first time in 1931 when the ship he travelled from Bombay, India the S.S. Rajputana, docked at Marseilles in the early hours of Friday, September 11th.

 

After a short stay in Marseilles, they took the train to Paris and then to Boulogne.

Here he took the ferry Biarritz to Folkestone, England, then by car to London, arriving on the 12th September.

 

After his stay in East Challacombe and London he departed by train on the 3rd October to Dover and boarded the Cote D'Azur ferry for Calais, taking the Simplon Orient Express train to Paris and onto Istanbul via Milan, Italy.

This ship took part in the evacuation of Dunkirk, but was Axis fighter planes during the war.
