Baba's Umar Tree outside Mehera's window
![Baba's Tree outside Mehera's window](https://image.jimcdn.com/app/cms/image/transf/none/path/se80bcf7e1bbfb507/image/i90cc95be3ba877a9/version/1441947990/image.jpg)
The Umar tree, where Baba?s image had appeared so remarkably as an assurance of His unending love and eternal presence to His beloved Mehera shortly after He had dropped His
physical form. For over a decade His image remained startlingly clear in the live bark of the tree for all to see, and then, gradually, over the years, changed as the tree?s bark was
shed.
Today the likeness that gave such solace to His Mehera can no longer be seen, but the significance of this tree goes far beyond the amazing likeness of the Lord?s face.
As the immutable law of nature unfolds, after fifty-one years, that portion of the tree where His face had appeared etched into the bark, has died. Thankfully there is new healthy branch growth
in three places: to the front, on the left side and at the back of the tree. Nevertheless, this new growth cannot bring back life to that extraordinary part of the tree touched by the hand of the
Godman as He walked in the garden a decade before He dropped His body, and in a seemingly casual comment to the visitors with Him, gestured, ?This tree, I
like very much.? The fruition of His touch and remark however waited a decade before being revealed after His passing, in His perfect timing.
Naturally, we are exploring every avenue in our pursuit to preserve this special tree, which has played such a unique role in His Advent
But as we share this sad news with our worldwide Baba family, amidst these strange times when a global pandemic is tearing apart the world?s old patterns of behavior, cultural traditions and
societal norms, shaking us from the complacencies of our lives and uniting humanity, if only in its suffering, we are reminded of something Baba told the Mandali: ? Everything that happens in Meherabad and Meherazad has worldwide repercussions.?
What Baba meant when He said this is impossible for us to fathom, but perhaps as we come to grips with the changes that have occurred in that sacred Umar tree outside His beloved Mehera?s window,
we can take heart in the eternity of His being. Everything else is just a passing show for He alone is real.
