MEDITATION ON A LEAF
| Uncertain as life's doubtful span, | |
| This contrast twixt the dark and light | |
| Which constitutes an endless fight, | |
| Must always thus unanswered be | |
| Until that time is reached that we | |
| Can dwell upon our whole belief | |
| In thoughts unsullied as a leaf, | |
| Which comes from Nature, pure and clean, | |
| Intricate and lovely to be seen | |
| No matter what the body's flaws, | |
| No matter what Our Maker's laws, | |
| The Soul of man must rule supreme | |
